I graduated from the University of Arizona in the spring of 2014 with a double major in Religious Studies and Psychology. Although I was accepted to the Arizona Teaching Fellows program, I chose to travel to South Korea in August of that year to teach English as a Second Language in a middle school. As a teacher in South Korea, I really appreciated my Religious Studies courses. I have a better understanding of Buddhist practices and beliefs as a result. This past fall I began a master's program at NAU in school counseling. My passion lies in mentoring and informing adolescent students about their options as they move on to the next phase in their lives. My degree in Religious Studies has given me both the opportunity and the strong desire to understand people of diverse backgrounds and their own unique challenges. At a high school there will no doubt be different personalities, socioeconomic backgrounds, belief systems, etc. My goals are to make sure that every student gets the resources, reassurance and support that they need to achieve their own dreams regardless of their backgrounds.
